Genome Sciences Centre Tour #2

Probus has organized a tour at the Genome Sciences Centre 

570 West 7th Ave, #522 on Friday, February 2nd at 11am.

We have been able to organize 2 tours of 10 members running concurrently.

In 1999 the world’s first Genome Sciences Centre (GSC) was created inside a cancer clinic. Today the GSC works with local, national and international partners on the Human Genome Project on many cancer projects and on reference genomes for a diversity of species. In 2003 the GSC was the first in the world to sequence the genome of the SARS coronavirus and by 2006 the GSC became known for large scale DNA sequencing equivalent to that of 1.25M human genomes.
